Region One Branch Meeting 2013 and Milestones in Microbiology Site Designation

The 48th Annual Meeting of the Connecticut Valley, Eastern New York, New York City, and Northeast Branches of the American Society for Microbiology will be held in conjunction with the designation of the University of Connecticut as a Milestones in Microbiology Site.

Milestones in Microbiology Site Dedication: The University of Connecticut has been designated as a "Milestones in Microbiology"’ site by the ASM. The Milestone dedication event is planned for Saturday afternoon, October 26th, and celebrates the many contributions of Herbert W. Conn. He was a faculty member at UCONN, the state Bacteriologist, a specialist on microbes critical to the dairy industry, and one of the founders of ASM. A number of dignitaries at the state level, as well as ASM members (who are also prominent microbiologists) from the national Society will participate. Speeches, displays, and a keynote address are planned. A symposium, Herbert W. Conn's Golden Age of Bacteriology Becomes The New Golden Age of Microbial Biology, will be held prior to the Milestones ceremony.
Awards: All student posters will be automatically considered for poster awards
